Triad delivered a multi-terabyte SharePoint system to provide Ricardo with an advanced collaborative platform to optimise the way their teams deliver value to their clients.
Ricardo is a global strategic, technical and environmental consultancy. It is also a specialist niche manufacturer of high performance products. The company employs over 2,000 professional engineers, consultants and scientists who are committed to delivering innovative solutions, on time to meet the most demanding expectations. Their client list includes the world’s major transportation original equipment manufacturers, supply chain organisations, energy companies, financial institutions and government agencies.
Triad worked with Ricardo to develop a vision for how SharePoint could improve the way their engineers collaborated on the delivery of their projects allowing them to both share and find information and knowledge across this diverse multi-national organisation.
Triad then led the delivery of this project forming a team from our own SharePoint specialists as well as those of Ricardo’s other partners. Our agile, workshop-based, business focussed approach ensured that key business stakeholders were not only listened to, but also felt ownership of the content and direction of the system from day one.
Extensive use was made of out-of-the-box features, complemented on an as-needed basis with specialist extensions to automate tasks to encourage user adoption through user experience simplification and optimisation. Key areas of functionality included:
- Integration with SAP to automate project site creation and synchronise reference data;
- Automated intelligent allocation of metadata to documents to reduce effort while at the same time enhancing the precision of search;
- Integration with existing system workflows to ensure Ricardo’s best practice quality approach continued to be applied.
Through the efforts of all those invoked in this truly collaborative delivery the system went live smoothly and successfully.
